FAQs

Can Disk Booster damage my hard-drive or cause data loss?

Disk Booster will not damage your hard-drive during defrag of your drive. However, if your hard-drive is near mechanical or physical failure such as excessive or grinding sounds, and or you have a SMART (Self-Monitoring, Analysis, and Reporting Technology) drive warning of drive failure, you are recommended to replace the hard-drive as soon as possible rather than attempt to defrag it as this may exacerbate read and write wear and tear, and may lead to the loss of data during this fragile state.

If there is a power outage during defrag or power is suddenly cut to your PC, this may cause a loss of data. If you are in an area with power outages or fluctuations, please take extra precaution such as running your computer or laptop off an UPS unit.
